It’s summer time! People that live in cold weather states like I do cannot wait until we can finally pack our coats up and spend a lot more time outside. This summer, I am all about enjoying my summer- it’s been an extremely stressful spring with my daughter’s health issues and all I want to do is be outside and chill with my family and friends. These are my tips to fully enjoy your summer!
1. Don’t fret about food
Summer is the time to go to lots of parties and events and to enjoy time with family and friends. It is not the time to fret about your diet! We focus on eating healthy overall and then when we go to gatherings with ribs, dessert, etc., we fully enjoy it! No watching what we eat or worrying about looking a certain way. It is time to enjoy and let loose.
2. Skip shaving- try laser hair removal!
One of the best decisions that I made was to finally try laser hair removal after thinking about it for many years. I have dark hair and have to shave at least every 2 days all summer long. I would get razor burn when I shaved and would feel self-conscious if I didn’t get a chance to shave for a couple of days. 3. Make a summer bucket list
One of our favorite ways to get ready for summer (especially when it is still a little cold out) is to make a summer bucket list with the kids. I love making sure that we have the things on there that we absolutely love to do and don’t want to miss out on. Things like hiking at different parks, fireworks, beach trips, kayaking, sleepovers, and campouts always make the list.
4. Leave time to relax
On the opposite note from having a summer bucket list, I like having some time to relax and just enjoy the summer. Time to go for a casual morning walk with my coffee, have a relaxed dinner outside or time to read a book outside. I used to be go, go, go and realized it makes me overwhelmed and stressed. Taking some time for the basics makes life so much better!
5. Take some time to disconnect
I always work less in the summer than other times of the year. My husband is home from teaching, my kids are home and it is the time when there is so many fun things to do. I love taking time away from social media and work. It makes a big difference in my mental health and I recommend you try it!
